This week’s guest, Daniel “Dan” Schoen, is a tech-savvy entrepreneur from Chicago who recently founded a social media platform called Cheddar.
He’s been a regular at the holiday party he runs, the Holiday Poconos, which he started in February.
He recently had the opportunity to talk to a group of friends about what it’s like to go to Christmas vacation, as well as what the holidays are really like.
Dan: What does Christmas mean to you?
Sam: I don’t really have a specific idea.
It’s really just a time to be yourself.
It starts with being with people and just having fun.
I think the biggest thing that makes Christmas special is the time we spend with each other.
We can hang out with our families, and the kids can do the same.
It feels like a family holiday and we can be together.
I think I’ve been to more family reunions than I can count.
When we have a break from the stress of working on a product, or being productive, we’re in the moment.
I feel like I’m spending Christmas alone and I feel like it’s a family.
It seems like it does feel like family when I can be in the presence of all of my family.
I can really connect with them.
Dan, when you’re out on holiday, do you miss your friends?
Sam : I miss my friends more than I know what to say.
I miss spending time with them, and that feeling of, ‘I’m here with them and I’m not alone.’
There’s no better feeling than having someone who can make you feel comfortable and feel welcomed.
I’m happy to spend time with people.
I feel comfortable around my friends, but I feel safe around them too.
