Disney Vacations, one of the largest Disney resort hotels in the U.S., is expected to open its first new hotel in New York City this fall.
The hotel will be located in the Village at East 42nd Street in New New York’s financial district, which is just steps away from Times Square.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Disney Vacating has been in discussions with developers for the project for more than a year, and the hotel will likely open in 2018.
The resort will offer guests a “cinema-quality experience,” including a large “V” and a “B” for the hotel’s “Bistro and Bar” area, The Journal reports.
The new hotel is expected for completion by the end of 2018, according to the New York Times.
In addition to Disney VacATION Village, Disney has also been in talks with several other developers for development of a luxury hotel in Las Vegas, according the WSJ.
The news comes just a few weeks after Disney announced that it was purchasing a significant stake in the Las Vegas Sands Corp., a deal that was announced last year.
The purchase of the Las Vegas Sands would allow Disney to significantly boost its presence in the city, while also adding a significant amount of real estate to its portfolio.
Disney Vacate is not the first luxury hotel to open for business in the New Orleans area.
Last November, the Disney Vacates brand, which has operated in the area since 1998, opened its first hotel in downtown New Orleans.
In 2017, Disney bought a majority stake in an apartment complex called the New Times at the corner of New Orleans and Frenchmen streets.
