Jaxson: Hi everyone!
This is Alan Holdens podcast.
I’m the host and you’re listening to it from my house in Brooklyn, New York.
My name is Jaxon and this is Vacations near Me.
You’re going to hear from a lot of people, but I’m going to focus on a couple of the people who are a big part of my life.
One of those people is my husband.
I met my husband at a party, and I said to him, “You’re going on a trip with my family, right?”
And he was like, “No, I’m doing this because I have a vacation coming up.”
And I was like “You don’t have to do this.”
So I’m like, ok, we can do it.
Jexson: My husband and I have been together for over 20 years and have been married for 15.
We’ve both been very happy with our lives, and we’ve also been in our 40s and 50s.
And we’ve always had very high levels of happiness, but the last few years have been particularly challenging.
I mean, we’ve had to make decisions that have really affected our lives in the past few years, like moving from New Jersey to California to move into a place where it was just not the place we wanted to be.
Jashon: We moved to Brooklyn, and my husband and my children have lived in Brooklyn for the last five years, and they’re both very excited about coming to Brooklyn and going to the city.
And I think a lot has changed since I was a little kid.
I had a lot more responsibility, I think, as a kid.
So I have this little box of books in my house and I’ve got a big stack of stuff in my car, and it’s hard to keep track of all of that stuff.
And it’s a really, really, very, very busy life.
And the thing is, I have all these little toys in my living room, and some of them are really important, and so I’m kind of, like, putting all of them in the car.
And they’re kind of on top of one another, and all I have to remember to do is sort of sort of keep them all together and sort of place them on top so I don’t forget anything.
Joxson: I was going to ask you about that for a second, but then I realized that this is kind of a recurring theme, because my daughter and I are also doing this, and you said you don’t want to put stuff in the back of the car, which is a really big problem for us, so we have to kind of figure out how to do that.
And what I want to ask is, why do we do that?
And I just wanted to clarify, what you said about the kids, and Jexson, because you’ve talked about it before, but we really want to keep it as simple as possible.
Japson: Oh my gosh.
So Jex, you know, we live in Brooklyn and we have a house in New Jersey.
And so we rent out our apartment for a couple days a week, which we’re really happy about.
But, unfortunately, when you have to move in with your family, it’s kind of like you’re kind the one having to move with them and make it work.
So we’ve been living with my husband, and our daughter, and his family for the past five years.
So when we first moved in, I was very, you’re in the house.
And when we moved in together, we lived in the apartment, so our family lived in our house, but it was very difficult.
And then I moved in with my daughter, so it’s the same thing.
We have to sort of put all the toys in the living room
