Costco vacation holds have been around for decades, but this year, there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding what is expected to be the first Costco vacation ever held.
The holiday held this week at the company’s U.S. headquarters is expected make the largest annual Costco sales ever, with more than $1.4 billion in sales, according to Costco.
The company said Thursday that sales of the company-owned store jumped to $1,824 million in the quarter ending in September.
Sales of Costco’s U of O stores, which sell goods from local and national retailers, are expected to have reached a record of more than 9.5 million units.
The Costco vacation was also the largest since Costco opened its first U.K. store in 2012.
But this year’s holiday is likely to be much bigger, with shoppers expected to spend more than half a billion dollars on Costco-owned stores this holiday season, according a Costco spokesperson.
The company has long touted its commitment to “living at home” and its long-standing tradition of offering its customers a wide range of products at competitive prices.
In recent years, the company has expanded its offerings with a new range of groceries, a new selection of home goods and a revamped food court, as well as more than 100 new stores in Europe, Japan and Australia.
